The Business Foundation Course (Virtual)
Overview
The Business Foundation Course is a two-day work insight programme designed to provide you with insight into life at a Magic Circle law firm and assist you to develop essential skills required for pursuing a fulfilling career.
Open to applicants aged 16 to 18 years, who attend non-fee-paying schools, the Business Foundation Course incorporates a variety of activities designed to expand your knowledge of career pathways and increase your confidence in your ability to achieve your professional ambitions. During the course, you will take part in a series of interactive workshops, providing you with the chance to engage directly with Linklaters people from across the firm.
Course Content
The Linklaters workforce is split between the Practice, which includes those handling legal matters for clients, such as lawyers, legal assistants, and paralegals, and the Business Teams which are those who support the firm's operations, helping it run smoothly and efficiently, such as accountants, marketing specialists, HR professionals, and IT managers. Day one of the course will focus on the Practice and day two will be based around insights into the roles of various Business Teams.
Dates
This course will take place on Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th August 2025 between the hours of 9:30am-4:30pm.
Location
This Business Foundation Course will be hosted virtually. In order to take part in this virtual course you will need access to a computer with a camera and microphone as well as stable internet connection.

Eligibility
In order to apply for the Business Foundation Course, you must be aged between 16-18 years old and be in full time education at a non-fee-paying, UK based, school or college.
Applications
Applications open at 9am on Monday 23rd June, before this date and time you will not be able to apply.
Applications will not be assessed on the basis of academic ability; however, you must be able to clearly articulate your reason for applying, and how you believe the course will support your skills development and future career aspirations.
Please write your application authentically, using your own words and ideas. All applications will undergo screening for the use of generative AI. Any applications detected as using generative AI will be rejected.
Applications will close automatically at 5pm on Monday 7th July and successful applicants will be informed the same week.
Linklaters will close applications as soon as a sufficient number are received. This may well be in advance of the application deadline and so we strongly suggest that you complete your application at the earliest opportunity!
