Spring Vacation Scheme 2025

Our two-week Vacation Schemes give you the chance to gain some first-hand experience of life at BCLP and the work we do. We run two each year at our London office - one in April and one in June - each for around 12 - 15 students.

Here, you'll be very much part of the team, doing live work, and getting involved in everything from research and client meetings to court runs and presentations. (Recent topics have included advising a charity on how they could help prevent the use of the death penalty in Sri Lanka, and delivering a mock M&A pitch to a client).

You'll also get to attend a series of partner-led talks and workshops, have a sit down lunch with partners and meet regularly with your supervisor. It will all help to develop your skill sets and your knowledge of the firm.

We are also looking for you to demonstrate that you have the skills and behaviours which would expect from our trainees:

- Hardworking and well-rounded individuals

- Willingness to learn and be curious

- Ability to demonstrate commercial awareness

- Creative with problem solving

- Ability to see the wider context of the work that we do for our clients

- Intellectual ability

- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Relationship building and strong interpersonal skills

- Commitment to a career in law

- Resilience

- Research and analytical skills

- Someone who takes ownership of self development

- Teamwork and collaboration skills

- Time management and organisation skills

"On a typical day I would complete a research task, draft appointments and meet with my supervisors. BCLP's vacation scheme is unique in that you are appointed a trainee, associate and partner supervisor who all give you work and introduce you to other people. We prepared and delivered two presentations during the vacation scheme. First, we advised a charity on how they could help prevent the use of the death penalty in Sri Lanka, and we also delivered a mock M&A pitch to a real firm client to try to win their work. Throughout the scheme there were a variety of formal and informal networking opportunities, as well as social events, including a sit-down lunch with partners and a trip to a darts bar."
