Training Contract - 2026 & 2027 intakes (Birmingham)
Trainee Solicitor Vacancy
Each year we take on up to eight trainee solicitors in our Birmingham office. We are currently hiring for 2026 and 2027 start dates.
During your two year training contract, you will experience four different seats and explore our six key sectors. Our trainees are given exceptional training and exposure to real work from the beginning, allowing them to feel confident in their skills and competency as a solicitor upon qualification.
You will have a dedicated supervisor in each seat, and an appraiser who will support your development throughout the entirety of your training contract.
Eligibility
We welcome applications from penultimate year law students, final year law and non-law students, and graduates.
It is expected that you will have the following skills and relevant experience:
- An excellent level of academic competence through A-level grades (ABB or equivalent) and 2:1 at degree level (obtained or predicted).
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and attention to detail.
- Good IT skills in Microsoft Office applications and be eager and willing to develop skills in other IT systems such as presentation packages as necessary.
- Positive attitude and show initiative to get involved.
- Commitment to keeping all matters confidential.
- Good motivation and flexibility to meet deadlines.
- Be proactive in suggesting solutions and improvements.
- Take responsibility for self-development and gaining the experience, skills, and knowledge required to qualify.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage a demanding workload and client relationships and expectations.
SQE/LPC
Law students will need to complete either the LPC or SQE prior to joining us as a trainee. Both of these routes are funded by Anthony Collins upon receipt of a training contract offer.
Non-law students will also need to complete the PGDL conversion course prior to sitting the SQE. Conversion courses are not covered by Anthony Collins.
Application Process
- Complete the online application form.
- Successful candidates are then invited to do a short video interview. This is usually conducted with a fee earner and a member of the HR team.
- The next stage is to attend our week-long vacation scheme.
- Applicants successful after attending the vacation scheme will be offered a training contract.
What is the vacation scheme?
- Rather than being a standalone work experience opportunity, our vacation scheme forms part of the application process for being accepted onto a training contract at Anthony Collins.
- You will understand the work that we do and discover where your passions lie.
- Your time will be split between two departments. We will assign you a current trainee as a buddy, and you will be assessed and supervised by fee earners.
- You will have an opportunity to be involved in the real work that we do, carry out at least one group task, and meet the people you might be working with in the future.
- The vacation scheme will take place during June and July 2025 so please make sure you are free to attend.
- We are pleased to say that the vacation scheme is paid.
