Vacation Scheme - Bristol Office

Our Vacation Scheme

Want to know what life as a trainee at Michelmores could really be like?

Our week-long Vacation Scheme in Bristol gives you the opportunity to experience the firm from the inside. You’ll spend time in one of our teams, take part in skills and knowledge-building workshops, and meet trainees and colleagues from across the firm.

It’s your chance to get a real feel for our work, our people and our culture, while developing your skills and exploring whether Michelmores is where you want to start your legal career.

As part of the Vacation Scheme, you’ll complete a number of assessments which form part of our Training Contract selection process. Successful candidates will be offered a Training Contract with Michelmores.

Your Training Contract

Your Training Contract is about more than qualifying as a solicitor. It’s an opportunity to explore different areas of law, discover where your strengths and interests lie, and start shaping the career you want.

You’ll be based in Bristol or Exeter, complete four six-month seat rotations and have a say in your seat choices, because no two trainee journeys are the same.

You’ll also have opportunities to undertake secondments in our London, Cambridge or Cheltenham offices, giving you the chance to experience another Michelmores office during your Training Contract.

Throughout your Training Contract, you’ll have plenty of support to help you develop and shape your career. Our Training Principal will provide coaching and guidance around your seat choices and career aspirations, alongside ongoing support from your supervisors, trainee buddy and HR, as well as a tailored personal development programme.

Do you sponsor visas for international candidates?

All employees must have the legal right to work in the UK. For our Vacation Scheme, you must have the appropriate right to work in the UK for the full duration of the scheme.

British and Irish citizens currently have an automatic right to work in the UK. All other citizens must have a UK visa or settled status in the UK. Please provide us with full details of your immigration status and, where appropriate, how you intend to qualify for a UK visa so that we can consider whether or not it is possible for us to progress your application. We will look at each application on a case-by-case basis. Any offer will be conditional upon your right to work in the UK.

There are minimum salary and skill requirements that need to be met to be eligible for a sponsored visa. Full details on restrictions including course completion requirements can be found on the Home Office website. UK Immigration Rules are subject to change with little or no notice.

Potential sponsorship options are subject to UK immigration policies and any corresponding reviews. Michelmores cannot make any guarantee that you will be eligible for sponsorship. Michelmores keeps its approach under review in line with new government guidance, as it is published.

Please also be aware that should any subsequent changes to the UK immigration rules affect the viability of your application before your start date, we reserve the right to change how we process applications, in line with the new regulations.
